We’re proud to announce that Jörg Hoffmann, one of our principal investigators, has been granted an AAAI Fellowship for significant contributions to AI planning and related areas, particularly in the design and analysis of heuristic functions and other search methods.
Jörg Hoffmann is an expert in AI automated planning, focusing on the design of effective algorithms for sequential decision making. Through his work in CPEC projects C6, C3 and E2, he is advancing run-time planning techniques satisfying strict time limits through the exploitation of action policies learned at design-time, and establishing a model-based sandbox framework to safeguard, debug, and understand the behaviours induced by such policies. In addition, he is cooperating with Antonio Krüger on planning methods for human-machine handovers, and with Christof Fetzer on the planning of micro-experiments to gather supervision information while keeping the system safe.
